Over 90 councillors, mayors and senior staff from councils of the Northern Sydney region heard from experts and government representatives on 7th February 2019 about smart planning, creative cultural infrastructure and dynamic open space at the NSROC Conference on Liveability. The Conference included non-profits, experts, Ministers, shadow ministers and senior government representatives to gain a diverse and rich view of what it takes to be the most liveable region of Australia.
The NSROC President and Willoughby City Council Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney opened the Conference.
“With a squeeze on space and conflicting demands, NSROC has been proactive in moulding the region into the most enviable and liveable region in Australia,” Mayor Giles-Gidney said.
“Affordable housing, open space, sports facilitates and an environment that supports healthy lifestyles all contribute to liveability,” she said.
Minister Anthony Roberts was a keynote speaker. The Premier was the closing speaker.
Councils explored arts and cultural infrastructure, recreational and open space, healthy lifestyles, housing affordability and building equity, transport, smart precincts, planning and sustainability.
